Valleys of Chicama, Chao, Virù, and Moche

TITLE:

Consolidation of the capacities for individual enterprise in the valleys of Chicama, Chao, Virù, and Moche.

Description of the Initiative:

The project was born on the initiative of Jiménez Ludena Fiorentino in 1991 with the aim of restoring dignity of life, above all to the young people who lived in these valleys of Peru where the lack of concrete objectives made the possibility of a future civil society more and more difficult.

Peru' Landscape

General aim of the Project:

To train every young inhabitant of these valleys with the agricultural skills necessary to sustain their own family
In this way, the depopulation of these valleys, which would not only have serious repercussions from a social point of view but also from an environmental one, can be avoided.
All this will strengthen civil society and the sense of belonging of these populations in their territories.

Valley Peru'

Specific aim:

In order to be able to carry out the general aim it is necessary, however, to be able to draw from water resources and distribute these through systems which pump the water uphill and deliver it.
It has been hypothesized that such a program can be set up in the years 2004-2010.
The crops to be cultivated will range from horticultural full field products to fruit plants.
To be able to fulfil this aim, it will be necessary to set up offices to assist the young farmers, who will have to learn farming techniques and a grounding in the agricultural crops they will be growing.
This office will also be responsible for commercial organization in order not to limit produce only to internal consumption, but also to consent a good export.
This will also allow a recovery of the investments that have become necessary for this project.

Production of Peru'

Strategy of the project:

The general strategy of the project is therefore concentrated on the training and organization of the whole productive cycle: from learning basic farming techniques to knowing the criteria for a greater quality of the crops.
Finally, a particular support is given to one of the most delicate phases of rural production, that is to say, marketing.
All this can allow an amplification of the areas where new young people can draw close to the rural world with renewed trust.
