Environmental activity and voluntary work
The Terredelsud association
began its activity in October, 2001 (the international
year of voluntary work) with the primary aim of bringing the
world of science
and technique
closer to that of
the missions, or, at least, to those places of the planet where
there are the greatest human and environmental difficulties.
The principal activity of this Organisation is
therefore that of rousing, above all, the Faculties of
Agriculture and the Technicians to the research needs of
developing countries or, at least, those territories where the
irrational use of the resources has unbalanced the original
relationship between man and his environment. For this reason
the principle of Sustainable Development has been introduced, a
theory which is still theoretical and, in any case, seen through
the point of view of western countries.
We are convinced that only a model of research open
to every demand and human tradition can assure a true balance
between man and the environment while respecting both the
principle of man’s vocations and the ecosystem, and can really
make people understand the true sense of Sustainable Development
in a world which is increasingly globalized.
It is for this reason that the principal activity of
Terredelsud is aimed towards the territories of the third world
where there is underway an operational collaboration of a
scientific and technical nature.
